Interpretation of Cross Section The plate boundary zone between the North American and Caribbean plates is delimited by the Puerto Rico trench to the north of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and the Anegada Trough and Muertos Trough to the south (Brinks et al., 1999). The Puerto Rico trench is the deepest known part of the Atlantic Ocean, with depths up to 8365 m (Monroe, 1980). This figure and data is from Brinks et al., 1999. |
