Active Plate Tectonics of Central Mexico |

Active plate tectonic processes are manifested by deformation in central Mexico. This web presentation will discuss some aspects of these processes and deformation. The above figure is a digital elevation map of color-scaled topography and bathymetry for the region of central Mexico. The map shows the relatively high relief of this mountainous region as well as a deep trench that lies just off the Pacific coast of central Mexico. Active tectonic processes form these topographic features. |
