This Fellowship is made available to Graduating High School Seniors who enroll in geology. They must complete Geology 111 and 112, maintain at least a 3.3 grade-point average, submit two letters of recommendation from teachers concerning academic qualifications, a cover letter stating desire to pursue a geology carrer and a copy of their High School Transcripts. The Award is in the amount of $500-$1000. Last day to apply is February 15th, Awards will be announced on or before April 1st. Field Camp Scholarship
Stipends are given to help defray the costs of Geology 410-412. Qualified students should have an overall GPA of 3.0 or better. The number of these scholarships offered depends on available funds. The maximum for each is $250.
Kathy Ball Scholarship
To be awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student at any class level.
Johnson Fellowship
This award is available to students majoring in Geology for use during their Junior and/or Senior years or during their graduate work. To be eligible for consideration, potential recipients must be citizens of either the United States or Canada and have maintained a 3.0 grade point average in their University work.
Glenn Nielson Fellowship
This Fellowship shall be made available to those students of freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior class standing. Where appropriate, graduate students may also be considered for this Fellowship. The financial need of applicants for this fellowship will be considered. Special consideration is given to those applicants who are returned missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The value of the award is not to exceed the cost of tuition and books.
Julie Michele Baer Scholarship
The recipient should be a female sophomore, junior or senior who is an active major in the department. The recipient must have a demonstrated need for the award. The purpose of this scholarship is for tuition.
Geology Alumni Scholarship
To be awarded to either graduate or undergraduate students. Scholarship selection will be based on need and academic qualification. This award is to be used primarily for tuition.
Warren VanPelt Scholarship
Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply for this scholarship. However, it is restricted to students who are specializing in vertebrate paleontology.
Michael J. Harvey, Jr. Scholarship
To be awarded to graduate or undergraduate students of proven ability.
Phelps Dodge Scholarship
To be awarded to graduate or undergraduate students who have financial need. Applicant must be enrolled in classes which promote or foster mining such as engineering, geology, metallurgy, and materials science.
Harold Bissell Scholarship
No restrictions
K. Anthony Snow Scholarship
Graduate or undergraduate student with demonstrated need.
Revell Phillips Scholarship
To be awarded to an outstanding geology student at any level.
Ira P and Gladys O Griffen Scholarship
To be awarded to a full-time junior, senior or graduate student majoring in Geology.
Applicant must demonstrate financial need. They must also maintain a 3.0 GPA and be progressing satisfactorily toward an undergraduate or graduate degree.
Lee Davis Scholarship
To be awarded to an outstanding junior, senior or graduate student majoring in Geology.
Virgil V & Audrey H. Peterson Scholarship
To be awarded to a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student majoring in Geology. Applicant must be committed to complete their education, abide by the honor code and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
C. Bryant & Clara C Copley Scholarship
To be awarded to a female undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Geology, who demonstrates scholastic ability by maintaining a GPA of at least 3.0, and excellent aptitude in their major field. They must be committed to completing their education, and abide by the moral code of BYU. If in any year a qualified female student is not available the award can be given to a male student that year.

To be awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Geology. Must be a member of the LDS church and maintain a GPA of 3.4 or more. Preference is given to those with financial need. J. Keith Rigby Scholarship
To be awarded to an undergraduate student majoring in Geology, who demonstrates scholastic ability by maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better. Student must demonstrate financial need and show evidence of self support. Recipient should be committed to provide future financial support for scholarships as their means allow.

Alan R. Hansen Scholarship Graduate Funding and Scholarships
New graduate students are eligible for departmental scholarships, tuition scholarships, and teaching or research assistantships on a competitive basis. Most regular degree-seeking students recieve some form of financial aid. However, none may expect financial assistance from the department for more than four semesters. Graduate students are also encouraged to see additional support form industries and agencies outside the Department of Geological Sciences.
