Hawaii is the world-class destination for active volcanic processes! Pictured are geology students exploring the caldera and active crater Halemaumau, wandering through fissures and lava tubes, and trekking out to active lava flows. dsc_2353.jpg

Some of the island’s other active volcanoes are Mauna Loa and Mauna Keaand. A Geology field trip included visits to these places as well as some world-class beaches and lush jungles. Students traveled to Oahu to see active beach processes, eroded calderas and tuff rings, and the top-rated tourist attractions of Hanauma Bay and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
